ipad master classes in St. Malachy's Primary School Armagh     P7 children in St. Malachy's primary school are currently working with their P1 buddies, introducing the younger children to the many numeracy and literacy apps the school has invested in. During these peer learning sessions the primary 1 children have been exploring the app. Maths Age 3-5, which is designed to be fun, progressive, challenging and meets the key requirements for the foundation stage. This is one of the many apps that have improved levels of student motivation, engagement and learning in the classrooms. The apps teach and reinforce fundamental literacy and numeracy concepts which are engaging, interactive and provide children with immediate feedback. Furthermore, teachers can customise apps to match the instructional needs of each child, so students are able to learn successfully at their own level and pace. Primary seven children from St. Malachy's Primary School had been working with Patrick Mc Grath of iTeach. The children focused on the use of the iMovie app and created a short trailer on their favourite book or film. During these sessions the children had to take on the role of actors, producers and directors as they scripted and filmed their trailer. After the editing process, the various groups got to unveil the grand premier of their short film. Patrick Mc Grath has been working with the staff and children of St. Malachy's since September 2012 , further developing IT skills which are essential in today's technological era St. Malachy's open night is on Thursday 5th December from 6pm - 8pm for prospective primary 1 parents and children . A snap shot of the iPad master class will be in action for you to experience and for your child to participate in.
